About the Elizabeth Andrews Legacy Bursary for Acquired Brain Injury
In 1993, the Elizabeth Andrews Bursary Fund was set up as a result of a generous gift by Elizabeth Andrews to the Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia.
Each bursary, in the amount of $500, will be awarded to support professional development in Neuroscience discipline as it relates to brain injury. All educational programs related to the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of brain injury will be considered. Up to 2 recipients will be chosen each calendar year. Past winners can re-apply. Online application forms will be used when evaluating each applicant.

Who can apply:
- Resident of Nova Scotia.

Those seeking support for professional development in Neuroscience discipline as it relates to brain injury, including ABI survivors and caregivers.
Examples of ABI related education and training include, but are not limited to, the following: Concussion Connection: A Brain Injury Symposium, Canadian Neuroscience Meeting, Ontario Provincial ABI Conference, Traumatic Brain Injury Conference, Training/Education courses, etc.)
Criteria for Evaluation of Applications:
All applications will be assessed fairly and consistently by the Selection Committee on following criteria:
- Relevance of the Profession and Professional Development to Brain Injury Community.
- Financial Need including previously received a bursary from this program.
- Member of equity deserving community.
Selection Process:
Online applications are being accepted from February 23rd, 2026 to March 23rd, 2026 by 11:59 PM AST.
The successful applicants will be notified in April and asked to provide, a brief summary of their learnings/ benefit they had as a result of the funding for use in our newsletter, on our website and social media.
