Greg Van De Moortele, Acquired Brain Injury Survivor

“Greg uses his experiences to help other patients and support them through the situations they face”

The injury or damage to Greg Van De Moortele’s brain was suspected as due to a premature birth of six weeks.  Over the next nine years Greg led a normal life and was one of the top five in his classes.  This then changed when from nowhere the nightmare began with a Grand Mal seizure.  Diagnosed with Epilepsy, Greg continued forward not planning to allow the seizures to hold him back.  His seizures continued to worsen over time which led to the first of a great number of surgeries he would undergo.  In total, Greg has had four minor brain surgeries, a major surgery removing part of his left Temporal, and left Frontal lobe, a second surgery romoving more of his left Temporal lobe, and four surgeries for a Vagus Nerve Stimulator he first had implanted in 2001.  Greg uses his experiences to help other patients and support them through the situations they face.
